UCI Scholarships on ScholarshipUniverse

UCI Scholarships evaluates students holistically; based on academic promise and achievement, financial need, community service, leadership potential and experiences overcoming adversity. Upon submission, applications are reviewed and evaluated by various selection committees. Scholarships awarded to students are applied to the selected scholar's student account for the upcoming academic year. 

• Undergraduate and Nursing Master degree students enrolled full-time (minimum of 12 units in each academic quarter) at UCI  (Doctoral degree students should not complete this application, please check with your department or Graduate Division for scholarship/fellowship opportunities) 
• Minimum 2.5 undergraduate admissions GPA or UCI cumulative GPA. 
• Applicants must have filed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), if eligible, in order to qualify for need-based scholarships. The FAFSA can be filed at www.studentaid.ed.gov. Students who are not eligible to file a FAFSA and qualify for the AB 540 fee exemption waiver must submit a  California Dream Act application in order to qualify for need-based scholarships. The California Dream Act application can be filed at dream.csac.ca.gov. 
• Eligible students are undergraduate students pursuing their first bachelor's degree who are either U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or eligible non-citizens. 
• International students may apply for UCI scholarships, however they cannot file a FAFSA or CA Dream Act Application, so they do not qualify for need-based scholarships. 

• Submission of complete application    
• Submission of documents for verification if required 

• Submission of a recent photo as well as a Thank You Letter that includes a brief bio and a “thank you note” for the donor 
•  Completion of an online Financial Literacy Course if requested

Applicant Data Policy: The information provided by the applicants on this scholarship application is used strictly for the purpose of scholar selection. This data will be shared with the scholarship selection committees and donors for the sole purpose of selecting scholars for various scholarships respective verifying the eligibility requirements.

Eligibility: You are required to file your FAFSA or California Dream Act Application in order to qualify for need-based scholarships. You are eligible to complete the FAFSA if you are U.S. citizen, or U.S. permanent resident, eligible non-citizen, or T Visa holder. 
Students who live in California and meet the eligibility requirements for a non-resident exemption, as well as students who have a U Visa or TPS status, can use the California Dream Act application (CADAA). Similarly, students without Social Security Numbers or students who have lost DACA status (or never applied for DACA), may still be eligible. 
The full language of the law and eligibility requirements is stated in CA Education Code 68130.5. 
 
The four mandatory requirements to be eligible for non-resident exemption under AB540 are: 
1. Attendance for three full-time years or the equivalent at any combination of the following: 
a. California high school 
b. California adult school (including non-credit courses offered by a California community college) 
c. California community college (maximum of two years of credit courses can count toward this requirement) 
                                                             OR 
Three years of California high school credits, along with three years of total attendance at a California elementary school, California middle school, or any combination of the two. 
 
2. Degree or unit requirements (completion of either of the following): 
a. Graduation from a California high school or the equivalent (GED, HiSET, TASC, CHSPE) 
b. Attainment of an Associate degree from a California community college 
c. Fulfillment of the minimum transfer requirements from a California community college to a UC or CSU campus 
3. Register or enroll in an accredited and qualifying California college or university 
4. Submit a signed "Non-Resident Exemption" Request (AB 540 Affidavit)

The Regents' Scholarship is one of the most prestigious scholarships UC Irvine offers to California residents who are freshmen entering from high school or transfer students entering from a California Community College. This scholarship is automatically renewable for 3 consecutive years for freshmen and 1 consecutive year for transfer beyond their initial year of tenure as long as eligibility requirements continue to be met.

Application Process

The Regents' Scholarship is awarded based on the information gathered on the UC Application for Admission and Scholarships. No additional materials are required nor considered in the selection process. To be considered for the Regents' Scholarship, you must apply for Fall admission by November 30. Applicants for Winter or Spring quarter are not eligible.

The selection committee conducts a comprehensive review of the applicant pool to determine the student's strength and breadth of academic preparation. Selection is based on a comprehensive review of the admissions application, including, but not limited to test scores and grades.To be eligible for the Regents' Scholarship you must be a U.S. citizen, an eligible non-citizen, or students qualifying under AB130 or AB131. Only students who fall under these categories are eligible for the Regents' Scholarship.

The Chancellor's Excellence Scholarship is one of the most prestigious scholarships UC Irvine offers to California residents who are freshmen entering from high school or transfer students entering from a California Community College. This scholarship is automatically renewable for one additional consecutive year beyond their initial year of tenure as long as eligibility requirements continue to be met.

The Chancellor's Excellence Scholarship is awarded based on the information gathered on the UC Application for Admission and Scholarships. No additional materials are required nor considered in the selection process. To be considered for the Chancellor's Excellence Scholarship, you must apply for fall admission by November 30. Applicants for winter or spring quarter are not eligible.

The Directors’ Scholarship is one of the most prestigious scholarships UC Irvine offers to domestic, out-of-state students entering UCI. This scholarship is automatically renewable for one additional consecutive year beyond their initial year of tenure as long as eligibility requirements continue to be met.

Application Process

The Directors’ Scholarship is awarded based on the information gathered on the UC Application for Admission and Scholarships. To be eligible for the Directors' Scholarship you must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or an international student with an F1 visa. Only students who fall under these categories and are domestic out of state residents or international students are eligible for the Directors' Scholarship. To be considered for the Directors’ Scholarship, you must apply for Fall admission by November 30. Applicants for Winter or Spring quarter are not eligible.
