Loan Entrance Counseling

What every first-time borrower needs to know

Before you can get a loan for the first time at UCI, even if you’ve borrowed money before at another school, you need to receive loan entrance counseling. This requirement applies to students who have previously borrowed at another institution. Loan funds can’t be released until you’ve met this requirement.

You can do it online

Go to the Federal Student Aid Website. Click the log-in button.

You will be required to sign in with your FSA ID

Select “Complete Entrance Counseling.” Under School Information, select California as the School State and University of California, Irvine as the School Name.

Follow the instructions to complete the counseling

It should take about 35 to 45 minutes. Once you have successfully completed the entrance counseling requirement, you will be required to take a test. After you pass the test, a confirmation will be sent to the email address you provided during registration.

The U.S. Department of Education will inform UCI of your completion

You are done!
